\r\nJesus made the disciples get into a boat\r\nand precede him to the other side of the sea,\r\nwhile he dismissed the crowds.\r\nAfter doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray.\r\nWhen it was evening he was there alone.\r\nMeanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore,\r\nwas being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.\r\nDuring the fourth watch of the night,\r\nhe came toward them, walking on the sea.\r\nWhen the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified.\r\n\u201cIt is a ghost,\u201d they said, and they cried out in fear.\r\nAt once Jesus spoke to them, \u201cTake courage, it is I; do not be afraid.\u201d\r\nPeter said to him in reply,\r\n\u201cLord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.\u201d\r\nHe said, \u201cCome.\u201d\r\nPeter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.\r\nBut when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened;\r\nand, beginning to sink, he cried out, \u201cLord, save me!\u201d\r\nImmediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,\r\nand said to him, \u201cO you of little faith, why did you doubt?\u201d\r\nAfter they got into the boat, the wind died down.\r\nThose who were in the boat did him homage, saying,\r\n\u201cTruly, you are the Son of God.\u201d\r\n\r\nAfter making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret.\r\nWhen the men of that place recognized him,\r\nthey sent word to all the surrounding country.\r\nPeople brought to him all those who were sick\r\nand begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak,\r\nand as many as touched it were healed.\r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
